Most people know the name of Jesus but many do not know much about him. We accept the statements in the Bible that tell us that Jesus was a man who lived about 2,000 years ago, claimed to be God, and further claimed that his reason for coming to earth from heaven was to save people from their disobedience to God.
These claims are upheld by the many miracles Jesus performed, the authority of his teaching to the people who heard him, and his death by crucifixion and return to life after three days. Many people who heard Jesus speak accepted that he was who he claimed to be (including about 500 people at one time after he rose from the dead), and that he could save them by his sacrificial death on their behalf which would forgive their sin and make them right with God.
Today, many people believe Jesus’ claims, and the group that meets at Heathmont Presbyterian Church is part of that larger group. You are welcome to join us to learn about, or learn more about, what Jesus did, why he did it, and how you can receive the forgiveness we have been graciously given by God.
Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to [God] the Father except through me.” (The Gospel of John, chapter 14 verse 6). This is an exclusive claim, but it comes in the context of a loving statement earlier in John’s Gospel: “For God [the Father] so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (The Gospel of John, chapter 3 verse 16). Join us to discover the truth about Jesus and find life eternal.
